SABER SPIRIT CLUB VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Membership in the Saber Spirit Club provides you with a variety of volunteer opportunities to help support the activities and events we are involved in at FHS. Below is a brief description of these opportunities.
Homecoming Class Floats – A volunteer is needed to coordinate the construction of the class floats to be entered into the parade. Duties include helping to arrange where each of the floats will be constructed and for the vehicles to pull them.
Homecoming Parade- The parade is held on the Thursday evening of Homecoming week. Volunteers are needed to help plan and assist the coordinator in various duties, such as recruiting participants, arranging for convertibles and other vehicles to be used in the parade, lining up participants at the parade start, directing traffic as necessary, and selling SSC items during the event.
Homecoming Concessions- SSC runs the stand during the football game on Friday. Volunteers are needed to help set up concessions, sell during the game, and clean up. Early and late shifts available.
Homecoming Dance- The dance is held on the Saturday evening of Homecoming week. Volunteers are needed to help decorate the gym during the day and serve beverages or chaperone at the dance.
Prom Preview- This event is a preview of prom fashions held in the gym approximately a month before prom. Committee members help the coordinator to plan the show, locate vendors and student participants, solicit donations, and assist during the event.
Post Prom- This is a late night “safe gathering” held at Showtime Theatre immediately following prom. Volunteers are needed to help the coordinator plan the event, solicit donations for prizes, and chaperone.
WI Educational Fair- Held in the fall, one person is needed to coordinate the catering of dinner for the college representatives attending. Additional volunteers are needed to bake desserts.
Teacher Appreciation Meal- One person is needed to coordinate the catering of either a lunch or dinner for the teachers to show SSC’s appreciation of the staff. Traditionally, this has been done on a staff development day or on Parent/Teacher Conference night. Additional volunteers are needed to bake desserts.
Senior Night- This event is a senior yearbook signing party held in May at Root River Center. Volunteers are needed to help the coordinator make arrangements for the facility and food, along with decorating and chaperoning the event.
Recycling Day- This fundraising event is held each spring on a Saturday at FHS. Volunteers are needed to help carry recyclable materials from donors’ cars and in the disassembling of some electronic items.
Fundraising Committee- Committee members are responsible for developing fundraising ideas, presenting their findings to the club membership, and determining the logistics of implementing the projects selected.
Publicity Committee- Committee members are responsible for developing publicity pieces regarding SSC’s events, activities, fundraisers, and membership.
